How CFO Justin Norton replaced a 4-person, 60-hour monthly reporting grind — without leaving Sage 100 Contractor.

It reconciles my monthly cost and billings on the GL to my WIP balance — it ties within $7.14. This now smokes Liberty Reports.

Justin Norton, CFO, Brekhus Stone and Tile

Before DataXcel, Brekhus was in the territory where controllers start pricing Intacct and NetSuite migrations — not because Sage 100 Contractor was failing, but because the monthly reporting package around it took a 4-person team 60–70 hours to assemble by hand.

DataXcel changed the math without a migration: a warehouse built from the Sage 100 Contractor data, an MCP connector for AI-driven analysis, and dashboards that replace the spreadsheet grind. One person — CFO Justin Norton — now produces the whole package.

It also catches what a manual close misses. After Justin called the May close, late billing entries still landed in the ledger — in his words, “people put in bills after I said kill May billing — and it caught it.” The reconciliation surfaced the drift instead of burying it.

The fade-risk watch list ranks 200+ active jobs by margin-fade risk and suggests the next action for each. The 13-week cash flow forecast rolls into a 12-month view — and because it self-reconciles against the GL, it always ties.
